I'm not glad that this is happening but I am glad to know about it. George Kerevan is another who tries to highlight issues like this. It's obviously very important. Where's the pushback against it? The best I can find is "Ten Points for a Transformative Economic Strategy in Scotland", by Friends of the Earth Scotland, Common Weal and others. Is that what there is? Does it need to intersect more clearly with the cost-of-living / food / energy crises?

Thanks for your comment Fintan. There really, in my view, isn't much in the way of pushback. The Greens may have at some point, but not now that they are in government. Kerevan is excellent on showing the way in which the Scottish Government are prioritising foreign capital, and as you say FoE and CW have done some excellent work on these matters. I think you are right to interlink the issues around the cost of living, for lots of reasons, but primarily because the idea of independence must also be about the ability to use sovereignty to bring large infrastructure projects into common ownership. That possibility is being extinguished before we even get there. It is my determination to ensure there is the fullest public debate, scrutiny and awareness of these issues.

Who exactly are you? And why are you trying to obstruct our independence? We are determined to gain our independence and once we gain it we will ensure our country is run in a manner to protect our populace and our resources.

Not sure why pointing out the sell-off of Scottish national assets, and highlighting the lack of strategy when it comes to the national question is "obstructing" independence." Quite the opposite.

This is a personal newsletter, representing my own views. You can read more about me in the welcome section on the home page of the substack. Keen to engage, and welcoming of disagreement with the content but that is best done by dealing with the substance of what I write. Please do leave criticism of that, it's most welcome. But let's deal with the issues. Thanks.
